History: Started out actually
hating racing! My wife use to have to force me to go watch
my brother-in-law race at Elk City on big weekends. Then,
I decided to go with the guys in the pits, which ended up being
the night of a mechanics race. I hopped into his #5
factory stock and won the race. I bought a camaro and
started building a race car that week!! I got to race
about 5 or 6 races at the end of the year in 98 in a pure stock
class- came in 4th in points. They outlawed camaros in
that class, so I moved up to factory stock in 99 and won the
points. In 2000 ran factory stock again and won half the
features and was the points champion. In 2001 we lead the
points for most the year until circumstances lead us to make the
move to the asphalt track at Altus. It took us about 4
weeks to figure out the set up changes between dirt and asphalt.
We ran a race (Winter National) at Wichita Falls, Texas, but
once we got there our tires were illegal, so we had to run with
the sportsman class. We made out pretty good and actually
got to start the A-Main on the pole in our camaro. We were
running pretty good with those fast cars until we were getting
passed for 4th or 5th and someone didn't get out of the gas soon
enough and spun 2 cars around breaking our axle. The
following week, we returned to Altus to win the last points race
and then went on to win Winter Nationals in our dirt car- it was
great. In 2002 we ran a full year with the Limited Late
Models and ended up 3rd in points winning 3 Features and Rookie
of the Year. In 2003 the late models are only scheduled
for 2 races at Altus, we intend to make those, and run a full
schedule of Pro/Street at the newly redone 3/8ths at Elk City
Motor Speedway. Thanks to my brother-in-law for
introducing me to such an exciting sport. Love Racing,
Live Racing!!
